The reasons for the exponential growth of LED advertising screens in Latin America.
“If you think that investing in advertising is expensive, you don't know how expensive it is not to do it” is one of the phrases we hear the most in the industry, but nowadays it is not enough to invest millions of dollars in promotional communication, rather This investment must be strategically distributed, first determining the message to be communicated and the most appropriate mix of media to achieve the objectives of each campaign.
Based on the above, from iLed México we recommend that your selection of media attend to the reach (sufficient amount of impacts), to the satisfactory interpretation of the advertising message and to the maintenance of the positioning (how the brand is perceived by the public). Over the years, many media have complied with these characteristics but, as you know, any advertising resource loses effectiveness the more it is used and repeated, which forces both technological and creative evolution in the advertiser market.
The current result of this evolution are the giant LED advertising screens, a form of advertising with several peculiarities because they are not only technologically advanced, but their nature allows them to adapt to new formats and different site conditions. They are those composed of light emitting diodes (Light Emitting Diodes) grouped into sets of colors (red, green and blue) called pixels which, in turn, make up the panels that make up each screen. These diodes work through additive color synthesis, that is, depending on the color of each diode, they light up with more or less intensity to produce the immense palette of colors that you can see projected on those screens.

So far, surely you are wondering what are the differences between LED, plasma and LCD screens? Well, they lie mainly in the quality of the projected image, energy savings and the effectiveness of its mechanisms.
Plasma displays are made up of light-emitting noble gas cells, which means high power consumption and space-consuming mechanisms compared to today's thin displays. For their part, LCD screens are made of liquid crystal and are illuminated from phosphorescent lamps located both above and below the projection panel, a lighting mechanism similar to that of domestic televisions from the last century.
Finally, there are the screens that are the subject of this article: LED screens. We have already described how they work, it only remains to explain how they differ in performance from plasma and LDC screens. LED screens (which are also liquid crystal) do not require an additional lighting mechanism, since in diodes the production of light and colors occurs in the same event. Also, LED panels increase the contrast and definition of these colors. In addition, its design optimizes the space occupied by the screen architecture in a very fine way, which translates into significant energy and space savings and a longer average life.
Why are there more and more giant screens?
Giant screens represent an innovation in the projection industry, mainly for advertising purposes, as they adapt to an infinite number of strategies and situations, from the screen that you can find inside stores that projects offers, to the large screens that you can see in malls in Mexico.
At iLed México we are aware that giant screens are here to stay for a good period of our history, since being an adaptive medium, its obsolescence will take decades to arrive. It is a versatile medium, since it does not matter what the graphic style is that dresses the communication of your brand or if it resorts to new types of materials, there will always be a way to reproduce them on the screens.
The first to realize its value were the soccer stadiums, first with the rudimentary light signs and later with the screens that broadcast the video of each game. Today, you can see in most football stadiums more than one screen installed to follow the sporting events they host, they have also dressed their strips between stands with 360º LED screens that run around the inside of the stadium and even the billboards that delimit the field have been replaced by screens.
One of the best examples of application is the BBVA Stadium in Monterrey, Nuevo León in Mexico, where even the corridors have screens to monitor the game. Another example is the Plaza Fórum in Mexico City, where there is a gigantic 360º screen that surrounds the column of escalators to show advertising to those who are ascending or descending. Thus, if one travels through Latin America, one discovers that there are more and more giant screens for advertising purposes, both for indoor use in events and squares and for outdoor use in buildings and avenues.
Advantages of giant advertising screens
From iLed Mexico we classify the benefits of giant advertising screens into two types. The first are the effects that are achieved in your public, since it stimulates the buying culture in an easier and more organic way than other media in regards to your products and services, by providing a powerfully attractive graphic quality for the viewers. They also generate better opportunities for predisposition to promotional messages that allow influencing the consumer; great adaptability to different spaces and its relationship with visibility distances. If you want to provide an immersive experience to your consumers, it must include giant screens.
The other type of benefit consists of monetization through advertising income for the advertiser, since many establishments such as cinemas, plazas or large restaurants have giant screens where they alternate the projection of their messages with those of other advertisers who rent that space, making the giant screens an excellent business that implies, in the first instance, the rapid recovery of investment.
Why choose LED technology?
At iLed México we have specialized in this type of screen for one reason only: the quality/price ratio. And it is that as we have already described, giant LED screens offer great clarity, powerful graphic quality and wide color palettes, all at a low cost in relative terms, favoring their profitability.
The recent exponential growth in the use of LED advertising screens is a strong indicator that we have succeeded in this specialization, since its ease of installation is great and increases over time, which is why our clients request ever larger LED screens. This goes hand in hand with practicality in both preventive and corrective maintenance.
iLed México's giant screens are designed to resist the inclement weather of the places where they are placed, since their panels have a highly waterproof architecture, with degrees of outdoor protection IP54, IP65 and higher than IP7 (the latter require refrigeration). They also have a resistance that gives them many years of durability despite uninterrupted use (average life of 120,000 hours per diode). The integrated LEDs are of high luminosity (from 6,000 to 12,000 nits), so that they are fully visible both in direct sunlight and at night. They have an automatic regulation system that adapts to environmental conditions to offer the best clarity in the image they project.
Additionally, it is worth knowing that the contrast ratio of these screens is 10,000:1, their frequency is 5,000 Hz, they have SMD LEDs and different pixel pitch panels according to the needs of the advertiser (P3, P4, P5, P6 , P8, P10 and more).
Our LED technology in the screens offers a high customization capacity, being able to manufacture giant screens on demand, with different specifications of dimensions, pixel pitch, type and, of course, price. Thinking about the different uses of giant LED screens (sports events, concerts, billboards, events, immersive experiences, etc.), they offer adaptability to multiple digital supports such as posts, canopies, billboards, monoposts, etc.
Assembly of a giant LED screen
- Place the LED panels, very carefully, one close to the other until you form your LED screen.
- Activate the joining mechanisms found on both sides of the LED panels, joining all the LED boards in an easy and practical way to create a completely compact structure.
- Finally, it is necessary to connect the content player for LED screens to the communication port, so you can start playing your advertising, which you can program locally or remotely by time slots.
Conclusions
As you can see, giant LED screens are proliferating for promotional purposes thanks to their powerful graphic quality, their immensity of colors, the energy savings they imply, their practicality, their durability and resistance to extreme weather conditions. If you want to stand out in the communicational abyss of advertisers, giant LED screens are one of the best options.
